Founded in 1999, SquareTrade is an American extended warranted service provider for consumer electronics and appliances. This company have their headquarters in San Francisco, California, United States.
They are the best when it comes to insurance for new laptops due to the fact that it covers spills and liquid damage from the first day of coverage. And this is one of the most common accidents of a new laptop.
SquareTrade has two plans. Their plans include:
- Standard protection: This plan comes into play when your manufacturer’s warranty expires and covers against mechanical failures such as power supply burnout and screen failure
- Accident protection: as the name suggests, this plan provides coverage beginning on the very day you purchase the plan and it covers accidents like drops and spills in addition to all the coverage under the Standard protection.
SquareTrade is the most preferred choice for a lot of people they are best for new devices. They have partnered with larger companies such as Allstate to provide laptop insurance to major retailers such as Costco.
Their policies are available nationwide and it start at $79.99 for a two-year policy with a $25 deductible. You also have the option to go as high as a three-year policy and there shall be no deductible. To file a claim, all you need to do is head over to their claims page on their official website and enter the required information, such as details included in your purchase receipt and your laptop’s serial number.
Note, however, that one major disadvantage of SquareTrade is that it won’t protect your laptop against loss or theft.
